Integrity - The New Badge of
Success!
Last week I was fortunate to have the opportunity to listen
to Dr. David Hawkins, physicist, author, and international
lecturer, hosted by Mary Allen. There were many “take-aways”
during this one hour presentation, but the one I’d like
to focus on for this issue is how integrity has become our
new measure of success. Dr. Hawkins discussed the critical
importance that integrity has in evolving our consciousness
(as an individual and a group).
The foundation of his work is consciousness and the discovery
of how TRUTH can be measured on a linear logarithmic scale.
Everyone radiates an invisible, yet measurable energy (that
is not limited in time or space). For those of you who are
not familiar with Dr. Hawkins work and want to understand
more about the Map of Consciousness, Kinesiology for measuring
truth and the corresponding emotional states, check out to
his book “Power vs. Force.”
Why is his work so exciting? Because it means that there
are no more secrets! Dr. Hawkins believes that we now have
reliable methods for assessing truth. Our mass consciousness
has evolved to such a degree since the late 1980s that those
who are operating under the old paradigm of “It’s
okay because everyone is doing it” or “I won’t
get caught” is no longer working. All you need to do
is pay attention to the headlines in your daily newspaper.
It is not an accident that the lies and lack of ethics of
the Enron’s and the MCI’s of the world are surfacing
in this new era of consciousness. Or look at what happened
to Martha Stewart. As we are preparing for an election, there
is great concern in our country about whether our political
leaders are truthful and trustworthy.
As more and more people learn to recognize truth (granted
it takes practice since it’s a matter of subtlety and
sensitivity), we will no longer be misled by anyone, including
silver-tongued orators.
Success is now measured by integrity, not financial wealth.
In most cases, you can easily double your income by simply
working 80 hours instead of 40. (That’s assuming you’re
working “smart.”) This kind of success used to
be enough. Being rich and/or famous is not enough. If you’re
famous, it’s your integrity that will help you survive.
That’s a strong incentive!
Having integrity doesn’t mean you need to be perfect,
but you do need to be AWARE of your motivations. When your
attitude is focused on “getting” what you want
by taking short cuts because you are rationalizing that “the
rules” don’t apply to you, this will stand in
the way of your accomplishments. It’s rarely a good
idea to skip steps! Time-consuming fall-out is a certainty.
Life is much smoother when your focus is on being upfront
and respectful. It’s about taking responsibility for
your actions and preserving the rights of others. Stone-walling
is non-integrous. Readily admitting mistakes and shortcomings
evolves consciousness. Then there’s no need to con any
one (this includes “white lies”). Once your name
is linked to any kind of deceptiveness or worse you’re
hauled off to jail, the damage has already been done and is
nearly always irreparable.
Motive is important. Imagine attracting clients and sales
because you are the best in your field. Because you offer
legendary customer service or because you are known in your
community for being reputable. How would you like to be handed
business and opportunities seemingly effortlessly?
Alignment (along with intention) is more important than accomplishments.
Even a subtle shift in your attitude can bring huge benefits.
There’s no need for a major overhaul. I like to use
this car analogy. Assume for the moment that your car is an
extension of you. To make integrity be your new badge of success,
you don’t need a new vehicle. All you need to do is
adjust your steering wheel to be in alignment with the road.
What happens if you don’t make these shifts? You can
easily derail, having to make major readjustments. Or, you
could raise your awareness and make little shifts as you go,
keeping your preferred destination of success top of mind
for a much more enjoyable ride.
Which will you choose? Awareness of yourself and willingness
to improve will lead to having successful personal and business
relationships. For those of you who have the courage to look
within and want a simple yet powerful tool to have a better
understanding of your own character and integrity, email me

Four Steps for Living with Integrity:
1. Integrate your values into your daily activities
2. Trust that the feedback you’re getting from your
body and the physical universe is accurate.
3. Accept responsibility for your part without blame.
4. Modify your approach accordingly; keep evolving.
